Rowan woke up with a face rash and fever today...I told Jeff I was pretty sure it's 'fifth's disease', as that has been spreading all over my school, and there was a case at daycare. So, I look it up online to find that the adult symptoms are a rash on the limbs (which I had a horrible case of earlier this week, I thought was allergic reactions to something) and sore joints (which I told Jeff a couple days ago I was having, and couldn't figure out why, I thought it was just from the exhaustion and stress of the past few weeks). So, after a trip to the pediatrician, it was confirmed that Rowan does indeed have Fifth's Disease. I'm going to skip the doctor and go ahead and diagnose myself with it also.
So, our weekend plans have changed a bit. Jeff and Ian are camping in Mankato and going to the air show tomorrow. Rowan was going to the lake to spend the weekend with Grandma and Grandpa Stanton, but he was so miserable tonight that he is just going to stay home and we'll just lay low with Cleo this weekend.
Rowan got a good report from Gillette today at his appointment! He is recovering well and can start to resume normal activity! Still can't submerge his scar or scrub his stitches for 2 more weeks, but he can start getting back to playing as usual!
Monday Jeff will be heading back to work after being out on medical leave with Rowan (although of course he couldn't completely leave work behind and was logged in and taking calls more than I though he should have been, but I guess his work ethic is one of the reasons I love him). And I am officially on SUMMER VACATION! Staffing is a bit up in the air at school and I do not know yet if I'll be staying in first grade next year or teaching reading...but I'm not too worried about it, I can do either one.
