Jeff's 40th Surprise Party

I got it in my head that I should throw a surprise party for my husband's 40th. At first I had called Majors and reserved their party room. The downfall? $600 minimum on food and drink! Even with everyone enjoying their beer, that was a bit steep. So I settled for Park Tavern, where the use of the room was free. Jay, John, and Chris took Jeff golfing during the day. This was good for Jeff because he doesn't go out with the boys often enough, and it was good for me because I had to run around getting stuff ready. After taking out some cash (knowing Jeff looks at the checking account each day and a charge to Party City might be a tip off), I picked up the cake, balloons I had ordered and some other odds and ends of decorations. Rachel was kind enough to let me drop them off at her house, agreeing to arrive early and get it all ready and greet everyone as they arrived. My story to Jeff? We had a bowling event sponsered by the sunshine committee at school. It worked. Jeff was surprised and happy, and we all had a great time. (PS, Thanks to John and Aimee for the pictures!!!)
Jeff is surprised!
Jeff doesn't usually carry Rowan in one hand and a beer in the other!
Some of the guests, our group of friends!
Jeff and the guys golfing!
Why is Rowan on a raccoon. Long story. Jeff bought (Yes, actually paid money) for this thing before we were married to have in his cube at work. A couple years ago it made its way into the dice game at the Stanton/Spivak Christmas. Uncle Tom won it, and it has lived under his pool table since then. At the party it appeared as a gift for Jeff. The catch? Tom wasn't there to give it away, it came from aunt Bonnie. Do you suppose Tom knows it is missing?? As for Rowan riding it, well, that is just Dave and Jeff thinking they are hilarious!!!
