Tesomas Scout Camp- By Jeff

Hi all! Jeff here, I wanted to post about the trip Ian and I took to Tesomas Scout Camp in Northern Wisconsin. For me it was a different experience going to scout camp as a leader instead of a scout 23+ years ago. I had a great time helping the scouts as they worked on ranks and merit badges. I primarily served as the 2nd adult leader with the Troop's venture crew who focused on scuba diving the whole week.Ian worked hard and had a lot of fun. He completed the requirements for both his Second Class and First Class ranks! He also earned the Environmental Science and Fingerprinting merit badges. Some 1st class ranks focussed on cooking. Here you can see Ian and some other scouts washing the vegetables for the various meals they are preparing.
Ian prepared a "Mountain Man Breakfast" cooked in a dutch oven. He followed the recipe carefully and checked it often as it cooked to make sure it turned out just right.
When it was done, the troop, as well as official taste testers from the camp staff lined up to chow down. Ian's dish was a big hit with people lining up for seconds and thirds.
Another skill Ian worked on was his knots and lashings. Here he is lashing a couple small logs together. Look at that awesome clove hitch!
I caught up with Ian on several occasions and he was always working hard or playing hard. This photo of us was taken at Eagle Quest where Ian and a couple of the other scouts lashed together a wall frame that could be used as part of a shelter.
A fun time was had by everyone! We can't wait to go again next year!
-Jeff

Looks like you guys had a great time. Is Ian taller than you Jeff? If not, he is getting close!
